The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team within FMEP and FACA has skills gap in managing and analyzing data. There was a need to improve their capacity in data collection, cleaning, management, and analysis. These skills were crucial for developing and deploying high-quality research tools, designing relevant data collection processes, and making data-driven decisions. M&E officers lacked sufficient expertise in using advanced statistical techniques and interpreting results accurately, leading to gaps in data-driven reporting and decision-making.
Capacity Building:
To address these challenges, a comprehensive training program was implemented for key M&E officers. The program focused on key areas of data management and analysis, including data collection, data transformation and data management, and making inferences from analysis. The officers were trained to design research tools, manage and process data effectively, and analyze data using appropriate statistical techniques. Additionally, the training covered the use of SPSS, a statistical software, teaching participants how to apply statistical techniques correctly and interpret the results accurately to make data actionable.
Result:
The training led to a significant improvement in the M&E officers’ ability to manage and analyze data. They acquired critical skills in building research tools, collecting and cleaning data, and conducting robust data analysis. Officers became proficient in applying statistical methods using SPSS, resulting in more accurate interpretation of data and evidence-based decision-making.
As a result, the organization enhanced its overall capacity to leverage data in program monitoring and evaluation, improving the quality of reports and ensuring data-driven actions were taken.
