In the rapidly evolving field of international development, emerging technologies (EmTech) hold the potential to significantly accelerate progress towards development goals. From enhancing service delivery to fostering innovation in resource-constrained environments, technology is seen as a critical enabler in addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

In Zamfara State, limited access to healthcare in remote communities has contributed to high under-five mortality rates, with malaria, pneumonia, and diarrhea as primary causes. Previous Integrated Community Case Management (iCCM) efforts attempted to address these issues but encountered gaps in coverage, consistency, and sustainability, particularly in neglected and underserved communities. To support a sustainable and effective iCCM model, the President’s Malaria Initiative for States (PMI-S), through Management Sciences for Health (MSH), commissioned Sydani to evaluate the existing program and design a state-specific strategy.

The Tropis Polio Immunization Project (TroPIP) aimed to evaluate the impact of intradermal (ID) polio vaccine administration using the Tropis® Needle-free Injection System (NFIS) in Nigeria. The project sought to measure vaccine coverage and assess the cost-effectiveness of fractional inactivated poliovirus vaccine (fIPV) delivery through Tropis compared to traditional intramuscular (IM) delivery using needles.

In response to the growing challenge of vaccine hesitancy and misinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US-CDC) contracted Sydani to implement the Social Listening Project in Nigeria.

During the implementation of the Social Listening Project, funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US-CDC) and supported by the COVID-19 Vaccine Crisis Communication Center (CRICC), the Sydani team identified significant gaps in the documentation and coordination of Advocacy, Communication, and Social Mobilization (ACSM) data.

The Malaria Rapid Diagnostic Test Capture and Reporting Assessment (MaCRA) project was initiated to address critical challenges related to the accuracy and reliability of malaria Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDTs) in peripheral health facilities.
