Kenya Country Director
As Kenya’s Ambassador to the United Nations and the World Trade Organization in Geneva from 2010 to 2014, Dr. Mboya chaired the World Trade Organization Council on Trade in Goods. His diplomatic leadership was evident when he led consultations on a new framework for financing the global HIV response, resulting in an accepted outcome at the 30th UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board Meeting in 2012. Notably, he facilitated the mobilization of an estimated US$1.5 billion in grants for health and development projects in Kenya from international health agencies between 2006 and 2011.
In addition to his diplomatic roles, Dr. Mboya directed national policy and legislative reforms on health affairs in Kenya, leading to a 70% reduction in HIV prevalence and a 50% increase in national health insurance coverage. As the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Kenya to international organizations, he provided international leadership, securing USD 7 billion for strengthening health systems and financing crisis interventions for refugees from 2006 to 2014. Currently, as the Country Director of Sydani Group, Dr. Mboya continues to bring his wealth of experience and expertise to further contribute to the betterment of healthcare in Kenya.
