The Sydani 2022 End-Of-Year Outreach Visit

The Sydani 2022 End-Of-Year Outreach Visit

She was clearly unprepared for what she witnessed and heard that bright and windy morning. It was clear from the uncontrollable stream of tears that streamed down her cheeks.

It was the 17th of December 2022 and Safiya had joined the team which visited the Asokoro District Hospital, Abuja for the Sydani End-Of-Year outreach visit.

The trip was part of Sydani Group’s planned end-of-year activities, in which we all set out to make a difference in the lives of people in Abuja and its environs. Staff were grouped into three (3) to visit Asokoro District Hospital, Christ Bethel Orphanage, Lugbe and Malaysian Garden IDP Camp.

Safiya had rolled out of bed that morning, excited to be a part of such an initiative that would bring smiles to the patients’ faces. What she didn’t expect was the impact their stories and situations would have on her.

At the end of the visit, it was clear that Safiya’s expression of sorrow had transformed into one of hope and joy. That day, Safiya returned home smiling, knowing that over 100 people were left with smiles and gratitude for the Sydani team’s consolation and payment of their hospital bills.

Safiya’s experience was not exclusive to her. The team that went to the Christ Bethel Orphanage home had similar experiences. As the children’s glee filled the room, tears of sorrow turned to tears of joy, laughter, and cheer. The kids sang lovely choruses and prayed for the Sydani team.

The team which visited the Malaysian garden IDP camp received an unrivaled welcome. The children boisterously cheered the team as they arrived, and it took extra care on the part of the two coaster bus drivers not to injure the super-pumped children who were not afraid of the moving vehicles.

The joys of the Malaysian IDP camp residents may have not been more than those at the other outreach visits, but they were definitely louder and more animated. As their parents were arranged by the camp directors to receive the gift of food and clothing, the kids continued to dance, sing many choruses, and were gleefully posing for pictures.

Like other teams, the Sydani team that visited the IDP Camp came away from their visit thrilled and wished they could have accomplished more.
