The Learning Agenda on HRH/SBA solutions was initiated to address critical gaps in Nigeria's Human Resources for Health (HRH), especially at the primary healthcare (PHC) level. Nigeria faces a significant HRH crisis, with shortages, inequitable distribution of healthcare workers, and poor retention of skilled birth attendants (SBAs). These challenges contribute to high maternal and infant mortality rates, undermining the healthcare system’s ability to deliver quality services.

President’s Malaria Initiative for States (PMI-S) – Integrated Community Case Management (iCCM)

In Zamfara State, limited access to healthcare in remote communities has contributed to high under-five mortality rates, with malaria, pneumonia, and diarrhea as primary causes. Previous Integrated Community Case Management (iCCM) efforts attempted to address these issues but encountered gaps in coverage, consistency, and sustainability, particularly in neglected and underserved communities. To support a sustainable and effective iCCM model, the President’s Malaria Initiative for States (PMI-S), through Management Sciences for Health (MSH), commissioned Sydani to evaluate the existing program and design a state-specific strategy.

Tropis Polio Immunization Project (TroPIP)

The Tropis Polio Immunization Project (TroPIP) aimed to evaluate the impact of intradermal (ID) polio vaccine administration using the Tropis® Needle-free Injection System (NFIS) in Nigeria. The project sought to measure vaccine coverage and assess the cost-effectiveness of fractional inactivated poliovirus vaccine (fIPV) delivery through Tropis compared to traditional intramuscular (IM) delivery using needles.
