Current estimates show that 8.9 million primary school-aged children and about 8.8 million secondary school-aged children are out-of-school, with the conflict-affected Northeast and Northwest accounting for approximately 75% of these out-of-school children

In Nigeria, this shift is increasingly visible through initiatives that not only prepare future generations to thrive, but also actively involve them in co-creating the systems that educate them. Among these is the Pre-Service Teacher Education Project (Pre-STEP), an implementation research project led by Sydani Group and CEBAR Consultancy, in collaboration with the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) and supported by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (KIX) a joint endeavour with the International Development Research Centre (IDRC).
