Vaccinators Database/ Directory Portal

The National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) recognized a significant gap in the availability and management of information related to vaccinators across Nigeria.

Prior to the project, the process of locating, verifying, and assigning vaccinators was cumbersome and time-consuming, with information often being scattered and inconsistent across various platforms.

This challenge became more pronounced during national vaccination drives and other public health emergencies, where quick access to accurate data was crucial. With a diverse and extensive geographic spread, spanning the North Central, North East, North West, South East, South West, South South regions, and the Federal Capital Territory, the need for a unified and accessible database was paramount.

Product Design & Development:
In response to these challenges, our team, as the Prime Recipient, undertook the design and development of a Vaccinators Database/Directory Portal.

This project aimed to create a comprehensive national repository that would centralize information about vaccinators, enabling easy retrieval and management. Leveraging cutting-edge technology, the project integrated several innovative approaches:

Geo-Mapping Integration: This feature allowed for a visual representation of vaccinators’ distribution across the country, aiding in efficient planning and deployment.

AI-Powered Matching Algorithm: This algorithm was designed to match vaccinators with specific assignments based on their qualifications, location, and availability, ensuring optimal use of resources.

Secure and Immutable Records: The system provided a secure and tamper-proof record of all changes made to vaccinators’ information, ensuring data integrity and trustworthiness.

Automated Credential Verification: An automated system was introduced to cross-reference vaccinators’ credentials with national health databases, ensuring that only qualified individuals were listed.

Throughout the project, key stakeholders from the NPHCDA were actively engaged, ensuring that the portal met the national and federal requirements and aligned with the broader public health objectives of the country.

Result: The implementation of the Vaccinators Database/Directory Portal was completed successfully within the project period from September 2023 to November 2023. The portal achieved remarkable outcomes:

  • 90% of vaccinators’ profiles were completed, ensuring a comprehensive and reliable database.
  • 70% accuracy rate was maintained, verified through periodic audits, reflecting the high quality of data.
  • The system allowed for information retrieval and display within 72 hours, significantly improving response times during critical health interventions.
  • The portal demonstrated the capacity to handle an increased data load, ensuring scalability for future expansion.

The project has transformed how the NPHCDA manages and deploys its vaccination workforce, resulting in more efficient public health interventions across the country. The innovative use of geo-mapping and AI-powered matching has not only enhanced operational efficiency but has also set a new standard for digital infrastructure in the health sector.
