Sydani Group at Five: Our Journey of Transformation and Impact

In a world where visionary and transformative organizations are becoming increasingly scarce, the incredible journey of Sydani Group (“Sydani”) shines as an inspiring beacon. What started out as a modest consulting practice in Abuja, Nigeria, has blossomed into a prominent and influential force in the global management consulting and international development space. Guided by a compelling vision, driven by relentless passion and determination, and fueled by an undying commitment to excellence, Sydani’s story chronicles a legacy of growth and sustained impact.

Five years ago, in the heart of Abuja, amidst the bustling streets and soaring ambitions, this compelling vision – to set new standards of excellence in addressing complex challenges that hinder socio-economic development throughout Africa and the world – took root and flourished under the visionary leadership of Sidney Sampson and his eclectic band of four dedicated and enterprising professionals who dared to transcend conventional boundaries. With unwavering determination and unequalled work ethics, they laid the foundation for an organization grounded in excellence and innovation, extending the frontiers of excellence with every keystroke.

About twenty-four months in, Sydani began to gain recognition for her innovative approach to implementing bold and impactful solutions, particularly in the Nigerian health sector. Collaborating with national and subnational governments, public and private corporations, international donors and development partners, Sydani has successfully led the implementation of large-scale interventions that have strengthened the health and social systems nationwide. Our core expertise in innovative problem-solving, strategy design, data analytics, capacity strengthening, financial modelling, and formative and operational research became our hallmark, earning the trust and respect of clients and stakeholders alike.

We recognized early on that building a legacy requires collaboration and strategic partnerships. By aligning ourselves with organizations that share our goals, we expanded our skills, expertise, and resources, amplifying our reach and impact. Our dedication to innovation remained steadfast as we pioneered user-centred design principles, achieving and exceeding client expectations. Our transformative approach brought fresh perspectives to the table, challenging the status quo and provoking creativity across our projects and partnerships. By engaging stakeholders and embracing diversity and inclusivity, we built resilient, responsive, and adaptable systems that delivered lasting impact across board.

Over the past five years, our role in providing cutting-edge solutions to Nigeria’s complex health system challenges has been pivotal. By providing high-level technical support to the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH), the National Primary Health Care Agency (NPHCDA), the National Health Insurance Agency (NHIA), the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), and collaborating with international donors and partners such as the World Bank, Gavi – the Vaccine Alliance, the United States Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (US-CDC), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and Government of Canada through the Grand Challenges Canada just to name a few, we have facilitated the implementation of key health and social interventions across Nigeria.

From establishing robust accountability mechanisms in health systems, designing roadmaps for social investment, strengthening primary health care and vaccine supply chain systems, designing health policies and strategies, to addressing shortage of human resources for health and maternal and child health issues for improved health outcomes, our contributions have shaped policies, transformed communities, and improved lives. Our work has made a resoundingly positive impact on Nigeria’s health sector. Our commitment to quality, resource efficiency, and systems thinking has garnered recognition from government bodies and development partners alike. We proudly assert that our story is one of tenacity, adaptability, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence.

As we celebrate our 5th anniversary this August 2023, we not only reflect on the remarkable journey that brought us here but also excitedly anticipate the promising future that lies ahead. With our expansion into new sectors such as climate change, agriculture, education, human capital development, and energy, we are well positioned to make even greater contributions to international development. Our multidisciplinary expertise, coupled with innovative thinking and strategic advisory capabilities empowers us to act as catalysts for addressing the most pressing challenges of our time. By fostering inclusivity, collaboration and gender equity, we are charting a path to a brighter, more equitable, and fulfilling future for all.

The journey of Sydani has been one of inspiration and triumph. Our growth from humble beginnings as a small consulting practice to becoming a driving force for social change and sustainable development exemplifies our unwavering dedication to redefining excellence consistently. Our story embodies the transformative power of passion, innovation, and visionary leadership. As we celebrate this momentous milestone in our progressive development, we acknowledge the remarkable achievements, the lives we have touched, and the legacy we have created. May we continue to serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for aspiring change-makers worldwide, reminding everyone that with determination and commitment to excellence, anything is possible.
