Enhanced skills in strategic HR planning and management are critical to achieving this alignment and boosting operational efficiency. The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) recognized the need to adapt its HR practices to align more closely with strategic business objectives amid a rapidly evolving HR landscape, marked by changing workforce expectations and technological advancements.
Strategy Design & Implementation:
To achieve this, NNPC partnered with True Zenith Konsult Limited and Sydani Group to deliver a five-day, intensive capacity-building program for its HR professionals. This program was designed to enhance the HR team’s skills in conducting environmental analyses, workforce planning, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration. Utilizing the Modified Action Learning (MAL) approach, which emphasized practical application through interactive discussions, role-playing, carousel activities, and case-based problem solving. pre- and post-training assessments were used to gauge and reinforce learning progress and measure participant knowledge and skill acquisition.
Outcomes:
The training achieved a marked improvement in HR staff capabilities, equipping participants to better align HR practices with NNPC’s strategic goals. High levels of participant satisfaction and positive feedback reflected the training’s effectiveness, contributing to NNPC’s objective of integrating strategic HR management practices across the organization. This initiative not only enhanced individual HR competencies but also reinforced NNPC’s broader organizational objectives through improved HR planning and strategic alignment.
