Malnutrition remains a significant public health challenge especially among children under-five in Nigeria. According to UNICEF, high rates of stunting (32%), wasting (7%), underweight (22%), and micronutrient deficiencies (causing 45% of death of children under-five) threaten child development and overall well-being. Sydani is committed to improving child nutrition by leveraging evidence-based strategies, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable interventions to address these pressing challenges.
Through targeted programs, we drive efforts to enhance maternal and child nutrition, improve access to essential nutrients, and promote optimal infant and young child feeding practices. Our approach integrates community-driven solutions with policy advocacy and digital monitoring tools to ensure long-term impact and sustainability.
Sydani has designed and is ready to implement ‘Project My Pikin’ in partnership with The Presidency – Federal Republic of Nigeria, through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South-South). This initiative focuses on improving child nutrition during the critical first 1,000 days of life – recognized as a vital window for physical and cognitive development.
Project My Pikin aims to enhance maternal and child health by promoting exclusive breastfeeding, increasing access to nutritious foods, and supporting caregivers with essential knowledge on proper infant feeding practices. The initiative employs a community-centered approach, working closely with local stakeholders to foster sustainable dietary improvements and combat food insecurity.
As the project progresses in South South, Nigeria, there is room to scale it across Nigeria. Sydani remains committed to delivering scalable, high-impact solutions that improve child survival rates, reduce malnutrition, and contribute to healthier, more resilient communities across Nigeria.
