The project “Determination of the Operational Expenditure of PHC Facilities” aimed to support the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) in developing an evidence-based PHC financing policy for Nigeria. Sydani was tasked with conducting operational research to ascertain the operating expenditures (OpEx) of Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities across the country. Sydani’s role involved designing data collection tools, creating an analysis plan, identifying the health facilities for sampling, and executing the assessment.
The preliminary findings from this research played a crucial role in shaping the current OpEx cost adopted by the NPHCDA for funds disbursement to PHCs under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) implementation.
Additionally, the Nigerian Governor’s Forum received a presentation of the findings, contributing to discussions around public-private partnerships and investments in PHC facility operations.
